Food infrastructure is now part of the wider offer for Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA) members, providing charities and community groups delivering food services with the skills, knowledge and connections to grow and prosper.
As part of this new offer, Stephanie Ellis has joined CWVA in the role of Food Strategy Lead for Specialist Infrastructure, with the wider team offering usual support with things like funding, governance, training, volunteer management and much more.
Steph will combine her role at CWVA with her position as Manager of the Welcome Network, which supports communities build resilience and empowers them to find solutions to the food poverty problems they face.
While food support in west Cheshire has always been crucial, it has arguably been in the spotlight more than ever before during the COVID-19 pandemic, with people finding themselves needing to access services during these challenging times.
Food infrastructure support at CWVA will help provide a bird’s eye view of all things food, develop a Food Strategy for west Cheshire and head up a West Cheshire Food Partnership to name just a few areas.
Steph said: “It makes perfect sense for food infrastructure to be part of CWVA’s wider offer for members as it sits so well alongside the other skills and expertise in the team.
“A coordinated approach to food support, where we can all share our experiences with one another, has never been more important, particularly with the effect the COVID-19 pandemic has had.
“We’re currently working on a number of new, exciting projects that we’ll be able to share more information about in the coming months.”
