Disability Rights Adviser - Citizens Advice Cheshire West

Location: Based in Winsford and working across Winsford & Northwich GP Practices with some home visits and home working (will require regular travel across area)

Salary: £30,060 pa

Hours: 37 hours per week

Citizens Advice Cheshire West are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Disability Rights Adviser to join their Community Advice Team, providing specialist advice and support to people with disabilities and long-term health conditions.

Funded by the Jackie Farrington Legacy (a former volunteer with lived experience of living with a disability), this project will combine direct client support with service development working closely with their Business Development & Relationship Manager to establish effective partnerships with GP practice staff to make sure referrals reach those most in need.

You’ll work in GP practices across Winsford and Northwich, with some home visits and opportunities to work from home. Regular travel across the area is required.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide expert advice and support to clients living with disabilities or long-term health issues
  • Work across GP practices and visit housebound clients at home
  • Develop and implement a structured referral and appointment system
  • Help integrate this new outreach model into local primary care services
  • Ensure clients who can’t access Citizens Advice independently still receive the help they need

Who they’re looking for:

You’ll bring experience in social welfare advice and a strong working knowledge of disability rights. You’re confident working independently in outreach settings and managing a busy workload.

You’ll also have:

  • A compassionate and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective partnerships
  • Great organisational skills and self-motivation
  • An understanding of how disability and long-term conditions impact daily life
  • (Desirable) Experience working in primary care settings and/or with Citizens Advice
