Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA) has created an online resource to highlight the impact being made by the Mental Health Alliance in Cheshire West.

Formed in 2022, the Mental Health Alliance is coordinated by CWVA, bringing together community sector organisations to promote good mental health and acting as a key, strategic link for public sector partners.

There are currently almost 50 members of the Alliance, with organisations large and small, some focusing purely on mental health and wellbeing services, others working with specific groups in society, and some providing community centres or spaces.

The key aims for the Alliance are:

  • cultivating positive relationships of openness, honesty and fairness
  • prioritising partnership and collaboration
  • fostering shared learning and continuous improvement
  • bringing lived experience to the front and centre
  • advocating for under-served communities
  • prioritising investment in local assets for local needs
  • working towards a single mental health system.

This online resource tells the story of the Alliance so far and includes testimonials from 10 Alliance members.

Andrew Herbert, Senior Strategic Lead for Neighbourhoods and Partnerships, said: “Over the last couple of years, the Mental Health Alliance has matured into what is now an important strategic network, positioning the community sector as a crucial enabler of an effective mental health system.

“Many of the near 50 members engage regularly with Alliance meetings, events and activities, highlighting the benefit they gain from being part of this movement.

“Since we set up the Alliance, we’ve managed to lever in much-needed funding for community sector organisations, champion the voice of lived experience through projects like Positive Mental Health for Us, and much more.

“We’re now entering a new, exciting phase for the Alliance, carrying out a strategic review earlier this year to refresh our vision and priorities, and we’re developing a quality assurance framework to promote best practice and quality standards across the Alliance.

“We’re excited to see how the Alliance continues to grow in the coming years and I’d encourage all community sector organisations delivering in the mental health area to get involved.”
