The charitable incorporated organisation (CIO), which was first set up in 2018, helps people access food support, general advice and more bespoke, one-to-one support with things like developing digital skills, budgeting or cooking.
Blacon Beacon’s support can be accessed by anyone in the Blacon area, with a wide range of activities taking place throughout the week.
Volunteers play such an important part in everything that Blacon Beacon does to support the local community.
Lesley, who oversees the work at Blacon Beacon, said: “Our volunteers are great at listening and being confidential.
“It’s really lovely seeing the difference we make and seeing people come in to share with us about how they’re feeling and their current situations.
“Since I’ve been manager here, COVID-19 was just ending and we’ve been able to be a lot more open.
“We hire the hall and we use that to chat to people as they come in, making sure it feels like a really nice community space.”
