Course aims:
An introductory course to: · Show the importance of having robust and relevant financial systems. · Outline the minimum systems we need to have in place and how to use them. · How managers and trustees can use financial information to manage and plan ahead. · Outline key developments in the financial management of voluntary organisations.
Content · What makes good financial management – an overview of the key principles in good charity financial management. · Understanding and making financial decisions. A review of the systems we need to have in place and through case studies how we can use them to monitor performance and spot problems. · Costing our work. A practical introduction as to how we can properly cost our work. · Not just the treasurer. How a board can meet its responsibilities. · Financial strategy. An overview of how finance is changing in the sector and the challenges ahead.
We all make judgments, and learn how this can impact how successful we are in carrying out our voluntary roles. Remember - your brain processes about 11 million pieces of information per second… yet you’re only consciously aware of about 40!
