This training is delivered by Alan Lawrie thanks to funding from Cheshire West Voluntary Action via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is aimed at charities, community, voluntary and faith groups in Cheshire West.
Course aims To outline: · How voluntary organisations can build equality, diversity and inclusion into all aspects of how they work and manage. · Key concepts, ideas and legal definitions that underpin equality. · How to develop a positive culture around equality.
Content · Introduction – beyond a ‘tick box’ exercise. All too often equality is little more than a paper policy statement. What are the issues to avoid? How can we genuinely engage in this issue? · Starting points – an introduction to the key concepts, definitions and practice around equality, backed up with practical examples. · From rhetoric to action – How do we build it in and see it as a core organisational value and process. How do we lead, manage and measure the change process? · Making it happen – an action planning session to help us agree where to start.
We all make judgments, and learn how this can impact how successful we are in carrying out our voluntary roles. Remember - your brain processes about 11 million pieces of information per second… yet you’re only consciously aware of about 40!

The first line of engagement is visual; it happens within the first few seconds. This training is designed to show how a volunteer can make an immediate positive impact. People typically remember only about 10% of what they hear… but up to 65% of what they see.
