This is a short session aimed to raise your general awareness about mental health. Over the morning session, we will look at what mental health is, some common mental illnesses, some signs that might mean someone needs support with their mental health, how we can support someone who is experiencing mental ill health, what we can do to help challenge the stigma around mental ill health, and, and how we can support our own mental health and wellbeing.
We all make judgments, and learn how this can impact how successful we are in carrying out our voluntary roles. Remember - your brain processes about 11 million pieces of information per second… yet you’re only consciously aware of about 40!

The first line of engagement is visual; it happens within the first few seconds. This training is designed to show how a volunteer can make an immediate positive impact. People typically remember only about 10% of what they hear… but up to 65% of what they see.
