Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA) is working closely with the West Cheshire Autism Hub to distribute £12,000 to local charities and community groups in west Cheshire, with applications closing at 5pm on Friday 22 October.

The West Cheshire Autism Hub is a welcoming space for autistic adults and their families to visit and access a range of different services. Based at The Bluecoat in Chester, the Autism Hub brings together partners from across west Cheshire that deliver services for autistic adults, making it easier for people to get the support they need in one place.

Charities and community groups can apply to the Community Fund for grants of between £500 and £3,000. Funding can be used to pay for sessional workers, transport, equipment, volunteer expenses and other project costs.

Any applicants must agree to promote their project with members of the West Cheshire Autism Hub and deliver their project at The Bluecoat or in the local community.

Karen McGuinness, Strategic Autism Manager at the West Cheshire Autism Hub, said: “We’ve made a great deal of progress since we officially opened our doors earlier this year.

“With the pandemic, we’d been waiting a while to welcome people to The Bluecoat and it’s been fantastic seeing the difference our range of services are making to the people we support.

“We’re delighted to launch our Community Fund as this is a great way we can support local organisations to deliver services in partnership with us at The Bluecoat.

“Our offer is developing all the time so, if you think you could work with us and deliver valuable services for our members, please make sure you get in touch and apply.”
