Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA) member Ellesmere Port Local and Family History Society (EPL&FHS) is currently on the lookout for at least two passionate and skilled people to help spearhead a campaign to secure a heritage centre in the local area.

EPL&FHS was formed more than a decade ago to spread the word about the town’s history, creating memory books, a photographic exhibition in the Port Arcades and hosting regular walks and talks about the area.

Monthly meetings are held at the National Waterways Museum, along with weekly meetings at Ellesmere Port Library, to support members of the community who might be more isolated and living alone.

Volunteers at the society are now looking to create a heritage centre in Ellesmere Port to:

  • become a new attraction that brings more people into the town centre
  • educate people on the unique and fascinating history
  • instil pride in the area
  • encourage more isolated members of the community to regularly visit.

Are you an influencer with the desire, drive and experience to spearhead this campaign? EPL&FHS is seeking new volunteers to help drive this project forward and create a heritage centre. You will ideally have experience in fundraising, communications and project management.

For more information about the project and how you might be able to get involved, please email Celia Webber, Chair of EPL&FHS: celiawebb@aol.com.
