We sadly lost our friend and colleague Clare Harrison in April 2025, and we’d like to thank everyone for their support during this challenging time for our team. You have all been so kind.
Clare was CWVA, supported so many people during her career, and is very much missed by us all. We’ll continue to champion Clare’s legacy long into the future, and it was lovely to launch the Award for Social Activism in her memory at the recent CWVA Volunteer Awards. Joe Maguire and Heather Swainston were very worthy winners.
As always, we’re very proud to champion the community sector in Cheshire West. You make a real difference in our communities each and every day, often the places that people feel most comfortable to open up about their challenges and receive the support they need.
At a financially challenging time, demand on community sector services is ever increasing. We’re here to support you in any way we can, and we’re pleased to have distributed more than £500,000 into the community sector during this calendar year.
At the time of writing, we’ve actively supported or engaged with almost 1,900 people from nearly 400 organisations in 2025, equating to more than 9,000 hours of engagement or support.
Despite some of the challenges we face, we do feel there are real opportunities for the community sector with devolution and the priorities outlined in the NHS Long-Term Plan – to name just a few developments. At CWVA, we’ll be there to champion the sector and help make sure we’re well positioned as a trusted, equal partner to take advantage of any funding or opportunities.
You may have spotted that we’ve launched CWVA’s survey for 2025, providing an opportunity for community sector organisations and partners to share feedback on the support we offer and our wider work to champion the sector.
This survey will help us understand where CWVA is making the biggest impact, and how we can support the community sector and partners effectively in the future.
We’ve put together separate surveys for community sector and partner organisations to reflect the ways we’ll work with both.
Once again, we hope you have a lovely festive period, and we look forward to working with you all again in 2026.
