After making an enormous contribution at Changing Lives Together over more than a decade, Len Moss has been named Older Volunteer of the Year as part of Cheshire West Voluntary Action’s (CWVA) Volunteer Awards.

This is a way of celebrating all the fantastic work volunteers do in their communities and winners will be announced over the coming weeks ahead of Christmas, with Older Volunteer of the Year given to someone aged 60 and above.

Len is a firm believer in giving back to his local community and has supported Changing Lives Together for 11 years, devoting more than 2,000 hours of his time.

Throughout his time at the charity, he has helped out in a variety of roles, such as cleaning products and helping move equipment around the Winsford Hub to support retail operations.

Changing Lives Together employs many young people through the Government’s Kickstart scheme and Len often helps them understand the workplace, giving them guidance about the potential paths they can take in their life.

The person who nominated Len said: “It is clear that his time at Changing Lives Together is important to him and he cites it as one of his largest motivators to get back on his feet after he faces setbacks, such as his recent eye surgery.

“He has said that he is committed to volunteering for as long as he is able.

“Len is a massively positive force for our charity and community and not only does he have an infectious personality that makes the workplace a much more pleasant experience, but he is also incredibly flexible, helping with whatever role needs filling.

“He is incredibly knowledgeable about Changing Lives Together and uses this to assist customers and members of staff if they have any problems.

“It is great to see Len’s community activity recognised and we hope it helps show that, no matter what age you are, there is always a way to support your community and Change Lives Together.”

Everyone at CWVA would like to congratulate Len on being named Older Volunteer of the Year.
