Nominations are now open for Cheshire West Voluntary Action’s (CWVA) Volunteer Awards, providing an opportunity for you to celebrate the difference volunteers make in their local communities.
The Volunteer Awards is an annual event, taking place at Chester Town Hall in the afternoon on Wednesday 11 December.
This year, the event will double up with the launch of Vision for Volunteering, a new volunteering strategy for west Cheshire covering 2025-30.
There are the following volunteer categories to choose from.
- Younger Volunteer of the Year – awarded to a volunteer aged 25 and under
- Older Volunteer of the Year – awarded to a volunteer aged 65 and above
- Inspirational Volunteer of the Year – awarded to a volunteer who might’ve done something particularly special to inspire others
- Trustee of the Year – awarded to a trustee for the difference they’ve made to a particular organisation
- Team of the Year – awarded to a team of volunteers that might’ve done something special
- Volunteer Food Champion Award – awarded to a volunteer who might’ve done something special to support people with accessing food
- Volunteer Mental Health Champion Award – awarded to a volunteer who might’ve done something special to support people with mental health challenges or their personal wellbeing
- Sanctuary Volunteering Award – this is being awarded by Sanctuary to a volunteer who has made a real impact on its services
- Lifetime Achievement Award – this is awarded by the CWVA team to somebody who has made a significant contribution as a volunteer over many years
Nominations will close on Monday 25 November, with a panel made up of a CWVA trustee, community sector staff, public sector staff and a previous award winner deciding the shortlist and eventual winners.
Make sure you save the date in your diary if you submit a nomination as three volunteers or teams from each category will be shortlisted and invited to attend the event with guests.
