Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA) is currently on the lookout for new trustees to set the strategic direction of the charity.

As a local infrastructure organisation (LIO) formed way back in 1914, CWVA offers a wide range of support to the community sector.

As well as helping with starting up, governance, training, funding, volunteer management, lived experience and much more, CWVA runs alliances and partnerships, supporting the sector to create a strong collective voice.

In 2025, CWVA provided 9,109 hours of support or engagement to community sector organisations and partners, working directly with 1,906 people from 375 organisations. All people who completed CWVA’s 2025 survey said they’d recommend engaging with the charity.

While all applications are welcomed, CWVA is looking to recruit for a Treasurer role, and would be interested to hear from other trustees with experience in areas like income diversification, enterprise and system change, support for grassroots community sector organisations, and digital.

“We appreciate these are challenging times for the sector, with demand ever increasing at a financially difficult time, but we do feel there are real opportunities for the sector in the coming years and CWVA can play a key role in advocating for the sector, as well as the system change needed alongside it.

Applications are now open, closing at 5pm on Friday 9 October. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an informal interview during w/b 19 October, with new trustees recommended for approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 11 November. The first Board meeting for new trustees is expected to be on Thursday 26 November.
