The annual event took place at Chester Town Hall, which is being lit orange alongside other landmarks in west Cheshire as part of the celebrations.
The Volunteer Awards also doubled up with the launch of the Vision for Volunteering (2025-30), a coproduced framework for investing time and resources into volunteering, elevating its importance and extending its reach far and wide.
After CWVA received around 130 different nominations for the Volunteer Awards, a panel went through them to create a shortlist and decide on the winners in each category. The panel included representatives from the CWVA Board, Council, local funders and previous winners.
The following winners were announced at the Volunteer Awards.
Michael Mitchell, Volunteering Development Officer at CWVA who led on the Volunteer Awards and Vision for Volunteering, said: “The Volunteer Awards is a popular annual event and we’ve once again had so many inspiring nominations.
“The panel always finds it difficult to whittle down the nominations as they’ve all done so much to support their local communities.
“We were delighted to launch the Vision for Volunteering alongside the Volunteer Awards.
“78 organisations and 331 people fed into the Vision for Volunteering, which will provide a framework so we can encourage and support as many people as possible to find the right volunteering opportunity for them.
“Well done to all the winners and nominees on their achievements and all they do for their local communities.”
CWVA’s volunteering platform showcases a wide range of volunteering opportunities in the local area so each person can easily find something for them.
