Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA) has funded 16 community sector organisations through its continued partnership with Cadent Gas.

This takes the total distributed by CWVA on behalf of Cadent to around £500,000 since the partnership began, providing a real boost for the community sector in Cheshire West.

This latest grants programme for 2026-27, worth more than £100,000, has supported 11 different organisations through the Centres for Warmth project, providing an even spread across the borough and working with a wide range of groups.

Five organisations – Age UK Cheshire, Citizens Advice Cheshire West, Dial West Cheshire, Pennysmart CIC, and St Mark’s Debt Advice – have been funded around energy efficiency and income maximisation, helping people build longer-term resilience.

During 2025-26, the partnership between CWVA, Cadent and the wider community sector made a real impact by:

  • distributing almost 800 carbon monoxide alarms to households
  • hosting nearly 3,000 Priority Service Register conversations
  • holding more than 1,000 conversations to help people access various benefits
  • speaking to nearly 3,000 about condensation and dampness support
  • offering slow cooker advice to almost 700 people.

Gary Cliffe, Chief Executive of CWVA, said: “This is an excellent partnership, providing much-needed funding for organisations and making a real difference in local communities.

“Cadent has extended the partnership for another couple of years, and we’re delighted to be funding 16 different organisations in 2026-27.

“It also fits in well with the work of the Financial Resilience Forum, which CWVA has been coordinating with the wider community sector and partners to put together a more seamless pathway for those seeking support around financial resilience.”

CWVA is also distributing the Crisis and Resilience Fund, with community sector organisations able to apply for up to £2,000.

This fund is designed to provide effective crisis support to those that encounter a financial challenge and help individuals build their long-term financial resilience, reducing their dependence and repeat need for emergency assistance.
